Grove School is a private, therapeutic boarding school located in Madison, CT, committed to excellence in both operations and team culture. We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to join our team in a dual role supporting both the Finance and Human Resources functions.

Position Summary:

The A/P Clerk / HR Administrator will be responsible for managing daily accounts payable tasks while also supporting HR functions such as onboarding, record maintenance, and employee relations. This role requires a high level of accuracy, discretion, and multitasking ability.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounts Payable (A/P) Duties:

  • Process vendor invoices and ensure timely and accurate payments
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
  • Maintain A/P files and documentation
  • Prepare and process check runs and ACH payments
  • Assist with month-end closing procedures related to A/P
  • Communicate with vendors regarding billing issues
  • Other business office related duties

HR Administrative Duties:

  • Support onboarding and offboarding processes
  • Maintain employee records (digital and physical) in compliance with company policies and legal requirements
  • Assist with benefits administration, including enrollments and changes
  • Help coordinate employee engagement activities and communications
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding HR policies, procedures, and benefits
  • Assist with timekeeping and payroll data entry as needed

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or HR preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in accounts payable and/or human resources support
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Outlook)
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity

Preferred:

  • Experience with accounting and/or HR software
  • Knowledge of basic HR compliance regulations
